Behind the Scenes at Postcard from Paris

May always seems to be a busy month for everyone. School is ending and there are loads of graduations and parties. Then there's Mother's Day and, with this past weekend being Memorial Day weekend, vacations have begun and summer is in full swing. Just like you, it has been a busy month for us here at Postcard from Paris Home, too.

Today, we thought we would give you a little behind-the-scenes look at what we've been up to over these past few weeks.

Our design team has been busy working with clients to put the finishing touches on their new homes. We have had clients in town from Canada and Florida and among the many tasks to complete were the review of architectural plans, design of custom cabinetry, tile drawings, lighting plans, and a full slate of interior specifications and furnishings selections. Linda also just returned from Naples, Florida where she met with a client and builders to review site plans for several coastal lots. (We weren't sure she was going to come back!)

Our designer Adrienne accepted an award on behalf of our firm for winning Sub-Zero/Wolf's Kitchen Design contest for the Southeast region.  The firm was selected from more than 1,660 entries and moved on to the national contest in Madison, WI.

The kitchen that received the regional award was from a home we worked on in the Cliffs at Mountain Park. The home achieved the LEED for Homes Silver rating, showcasing that sustainable design and style and comfort are not mutually exclusive. We have several LEED credentialed designers on staff and relish sustainable design opportunities.

We've also been working hard on our online boutique, which launched just over a month ago. We have shipped out numerous orders across the country, from jewelry and books to artwork and rare finds. The new online boutique is gaining momentum, and we are thrilled to finally have it up and running. We had been asked time and time again when we would begin selling online. And now we are! Help us spread the word!

We also received new shipments from Michael Aram, Antica Farmacista, Arte Italica, and others and added a number of new items to our online boutique, including this Forest Leaf Cheeseboard & Knife and this Lotus Blossom Glass Bowl. There are many new items on the online boutique so don't miss them.

Our retail specialists at our two retail boutiques have been busy helping customers select the perfect gift or item for their home. We had someone stop in the other day and all she could say was, "Wow." She went on to say that she felt like she was in New York when she walked into the shop; that's pretty cool. They have also been working with brides-to-be on their gift registries. Did you know we offer registries?

We also had Artisphere, one of the country's top arts festivals, happen downtown, and that brought hundreds of people into the shop. That was a fantastic weekend, complete with many new out-of-town faces and compliments about our boutique and this exceptional city we live in. It truly is a marvelous celebration of the arts.

And our design work made the cover of the Spring 2013 issue of At Home in the Upstate.
